Cookie Policy

This page explains the cookies and similar technologies used on wearethepax.co.uk.

Nothing that tracks you is stored until you say yes. Advertising cookies are only set if you choose “Accept all” on the banner. If you reject, or if you close the page without choosing, no advertising cookie is set and nothing is sent to any advertiser. The website works in exactly the same way either way.

We do not use analytics cookies at all, and we do not sell your browsing data.

1. Cookies We Always Set

These are strictly necessary for the site to work or to stay secure. UK law does not require your consent for them, and they cannot be switched off while you use the site.

• _cfuvid — set by Cloudflare, the network our website host uses. It helps distinguish real visitors from automated traffic and protects the site from abuse. It contains no personal information and cannot be read by scripts on the page.
• Sign-in token — if you create an account and sign in, your browser stores a secure token so you stay signed in between visits. This is stored by Firebase Authentication in your browser’s local storage, not as a tracking cookie. Signing out removes it.
• Your cookie choice — when you accept or reject advertising cookies, we store that decision in your browser’s local storage under the name paxConsent.v1, so we do not have to ask you again on every page. It records only your answer and the date you gave it.

2. Advertising Cookies — Only If You Accept

We advertise The Pax on Facebook and Instagram. If you accept, this website loads the Meta Pixel, a small piece of code from Meta that lets us see whether those adverts actually lead to bookings.

What is set

• _fbp — set by the pixel in your browser, in our own name. It holds a randomly generated identifier that distinguishes your browser from other browsers. It expires after about 90 days.
• _fbc — set only if you arrived at this website by clicking one of our Meta adverts, in which case it stores the click identifier from that advert. It expires after about 90 days.
• Meta’s own cookies — when the pixel contacts Meta, Meta may read or set cookies on its own domains, such as fr on facebook.com. Those cookies are Meta’s, are governed by Meta’s policies, and exist whether or not you visit this website.

What is sent to Meta

• The address of the page you are viewing, and the fact that you viewed it.
• Your IP address, and basic information about your browser and device.
• The identifiers described above, which Meta may match to your Facebook or Instagram account if you have one.

We do not send Meta your name, your email address, your telephone number, or anything about your booking. The pixel is configured to record page views only. Advanced matching, which is the feature that would send Meta a hashed version of your contact details, is switched off.

Who receives it

Meta Platforms Ireland Limited, Merrion Road, Dublin 4, Ireland, and other companies in the Meta group, including in the United States. This is explained further in sections 6, 7 and 11 of our Privacy Policy.

3. Your Choice

The first time you visit, a banner appears at the bottom of the screen with two buttons of equal size: Reject all and Accept all. Refusing is exactly as easy as agreeing, which is what the law requires.

Until you press one of them, nothing in section 2 is loaded, contacted or stored. Not on the first page, and not while the banner is open.

Changing your mind. You can change your answer at any time using the Cookie settings link at the bottom of any page. Withdrawing consent is as easy as giving it. If you withdraw it, we stop loading the pixel from that point. To remove cookies already stored, clear them in your browser as described in section 5.

Your choice is stored in your own browser. If you use a different browser or device, or clear your browsing data, you will be asked again.

4. Payment Pages

When you pay, you are taken to a secure checkout page hosted by Stripe. Stripe sets its own cookies on that page to process the payment and prevent fraud. Those cookies are governed by Stripe’s own privacy and cookie policies, not this one. They are set whether or not you accepted advertising cookies, because they are necessary to take the payment you have asked us to take.

5. Managing Cookies in Your Browser

You can block or delete cookies through your browser settings at any time. Please note that blocking the items in section 1 may stop parts of the website working, including staying signed in to your account.

You can also control how Meta uses information for advertising from within your Facebook or Instagram account settings.

6. Changes

We may update this Cookie Policy from time to time. The current version will always appear on this page with its revision date. If we add a new tracking technology, we will ask for your consent before it is used.
